Swiss Public-Sector Security Census

Swiss Public-Sector Security Census

Cosa viene letto – e nient'altro

What is this request to your server?

The census measures, once a month, whether Swiss municipalities, cantons and federal offices have five widely recommended, low-cost protections in place: security.txt, email anti-spoofing (SPF and DMARC), DNSSEC, HTTPS enforcement (HSTS) and modern TLS.

What is read – and nothing else

Public DNS records, through a validating resolver; per website, one GET of /.well-known/security.txt; one GET of the homepage over HTTP and one over HTTPS (following redirects); one TLS handshake per protocol version.

This is not a vulnerability scan: no port scanning, no path guessing, no login pages, no forms. At most one request per second per server. Page content is not stored.

Before anything is published

Each canton receives the results for itself and its municipalities, and the Federal Office for Cyber Security (BACS) the whole dataset. Nothing is published until 30 days later, after any errors are corrected.
